Like most people I seem to fall into the “one thing leads to another” category.

Last year I ordered a 7.5’ tall, pre-lit Christmas tree from Martha Stewart’s website because I saw this tree at Home Depot the year before but didn’t purchase it then.  When I got the tree I was really disappointed in the quality and the lights were incandescent rather than LED.  When I took it down after the season was over an entire branch fell off, so I shoved the whole thing back in the box it came in and it is currently taking up space in my garage.

My brother ran across a 7.5’ flocked tree (which was my heart’s desire) pre-lit with 300 LED lights, to which I added three strands of fairy lights to make the entire tree twinkle.  Not only was the Wal Mart tree $200 cheaper than the Martha Stewart tree, but it was the exact tree I’d been hoping to find.

Delight overtook reason.  I took it out of the box, put the three sections together, plugging in the LED lights as I went.  Delighted.  All reason vanished, so in the middle of October I began hauling 45 Tupperware containers out of the garage and making a huge mess in my living room.  Reason didn’t even make an appearance in my thinking at that point.  I get so much joy out of looking at the tree, table scape and gently twinkling fairy lights over the front room and dining room window, I don’t care what the neighbors think!  The tree may stay up until the end of January!  I support the “Find Your Joy” movement, even if it means the tree in my front room stays up all year.
