the one to come

The birth and mission of Jesus was foretold by many old testament prophets.  Isaiah proclaimed the One To Come was the chosen Redeemer who would lift up the Jewish people.  Isaiah declared He was the light which shown out of darkness, and a Prince of Peace filled with wisdom, power, and righteousness.  The One to Come would also wear the key to the House of David upon his shoulder to confirm his destiny as King of the Jews.

Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Zechariah, and Malachi proclaimed the One to Come was descended from the Righteous Branch of the Twelve Tribes of Israel.  He would become a High Priest, a son of righteousness, the new Light which would shine upon the world.

These prophesies were recorded 1,200 years before his birth.  Not only the Jewish people lived in expectation of His coming, but men who studied the stars in Persia, Assyria, and from as far away as the land of Chin, watched the heavens for a sign He had returned to earth.

About the Novel

Astrologers from Persia and Assyria believe an alignment of the stars in the constellation of Taurus predict the birth of a new Messiah.  Early Jewish prophets foretell the One To Come will establish a theocracy in the land of Palestine to initiate worship of the one true God.  Many looked to the heavens and waited for the promised Messiah to return to earth and free the Jews from Roman occupation.

The House of Khepri caravan, led by Amon Khepri’s only son, Balthazar, returns from a four-year trip from Damascus to the land of Chin, which most scholars believed existed only as a fable.  Elias, the leader of the Essenes sends his protégé, a young woman named Amariah, with yet another caravan to seek and retrieve documents written by the star people which have been preserved for the One To Come.  These messages will help Jesus develop the message from the stars to replace the harsh laws of the Torah.

Jesus believed in the Law of Moses but created changes which were easier for mankind to base their lives upon.  There are fragments of his teachings which are similar to the beliefs of the ancient Persians.  Hints of the code of ethics of Zoroaster appear throughout his parables.  Even the wonderous religion of the Egyptians is woven into the fabric of Jesus’ narrative.

The stage is set for all that will transpire during the three short years of his mission.  The message he brought was like no other, misunderstood by most, even his devoted disciples.

My name is Ardashir.  I am the Chief Astrologer for the King’s Court of Persia.  A new light appeared in the heavens.  This star is brighter than all the rest.  I feel certain the new star announces the birth of the One to Come, for whom we have been waiting.  Three of us, will follow this star hoping it will lead us to the One who will bring a message to mankind, like no other.
