I was taking a creative writing class at UNLV when my professor suggested I try my hand at writing a fable. My professor had a friend in publishing whose line included a fable called A Knight In Rusty Armor. I was game, so off I went to the computer. The first rule of creative writing is “write about what you know,” and in my case that was life in a casino. The result was The Magic Wand, which allowed me to expand into a new genre and use my education in human potential to create a series of short stories about common problems faced by human beings. Utilizing the talents of a fairy godmother to solve relationship issues with family, friends, co-workers, and bosses is the “magic” in The Magic Wand.
